FAQ

WHEN AND WHERE WILL MY BUCKET BE PICKED UP?

Pick-up time is between 9:00 AM-5:00 PM on your designated delivery day. If you miss the time/day, no worries! Send an email to LovingEarthCompost@gmail.com to reschedule a pick-up time or we will pick up your bucket at the next pick-up day.
Pick-up location is generally curbside (typically where you would put your garbage and recycling). If you prefer another location, i.e. at front door or lobby, please specify in the note section at checkout. We prefer not to go into the backyard or the side of the yard for pick-up.

WHAT IF I WANT TO REFER SOMEONE TO THIS SERVICE?

First off, thank you for supporting us and spreading the word on the benefits of composting! We are a small, growing service and rely heavily on word of mouth. To thank you for referring someone, we will deduct $8.00 from one-month payment per referral . No limits on referrals. Please have the person referred write your name into the sign-up box to get your $8.00 deduction.

I LIVE IN AN APARTMENT, CAN I STILL COMPOST?

Absolutely yes! In fact, people that lived in apartments were the driving factor to creating Loving Earth Compost. Keep your bucket under your sink, in your laundry room or on your outside porch. Place your bucket outside your front building, in your front corridor, or right at your front door (if open accessibility into building). If your building is a locked building, please discuss with apartment management prior to registration.

CAN I CHANGE MY PLAN?

Absolutely, yes! If you decide you need more or less pick-ups, log onto your account and cancel your current plan. You will then be able to choose the plan that works better for you. If you need to cancel your plan or have any questions, please email us.

DO YOU SELL COMPOST?

Unforutnaly, this year we do not have enough compost to sell. We are hoping to offer this in the future.

WHERE DO YOU SERVICE?

Loving Earth Compost services a portion of Saratoga County, including Saratoga Springs, Ballston Spa, Ballston Lake, Malta, Wilton, Greenfield Center, Mechanicsville and Gansevoort. Check the map to see if your area is covered. If you are unsure, please contact us!

DOES IT SMELL OR ATTRACT ANIMALS?

Surprisingly no, it doesn't smell much. The natural composting process starts when the food comes together in the bucket. If it does become a bit smelly before pick-up day, add torn-up browns (toilet paper rolls, paper towels, cardboard egg cartons) to the bucket.

Rodents are rare. The EZ-Seal lid  serves as a protective barrier to ensure no rodents break in. Make sure your lid is sealed tight between use. Also, try to keep your bucket in a location that is less accessible to rodents.

WHAT HAPPENS IF MY BUCKET GET LOST, STOLEN OR DAMAGED?

We know things happen! Please notify us as soon as possible if your bucket has been lost, damaged or stolen. If the bucket becomes damaged due to a breakage in the product, there will be no fee. If the bucket becomes lost or stolen, a fee of $10 will be charged to your account on file for bucket replacement. This charge will be determined on a case by case basis.

HELP! MY BUCKET IS OVERFLOWING AND I'M NOT DUE FOR A PICK-UP

We understand that sometimes your household may produce a larger than average amount of food waste, especially during the holidays or special celebrations. We can offer a one-time second bucket to keep at your home in case of overflow. If you are a weekly customer, you may have a second bucket for unlimited times at no extra charge. Simply contact us and we can deliver your second bucket at your next pick-up.

Unfortunately, at this time we only offer 3.5 gallon buckets with our service. We value your feedback and will consider larger buckets in the near future.
